Protect the Palm (protectthepalm.com) is a community advocacy movement based in West Palm Beach, Florida. We are not a corporation or commercial entity. You can reach us at info@protectthepalm.com.

What Information We Collect

We only collect information you voluntarily provide when signing the petition:

First and last name
Email address
Neighborhood or ZIP code (optional)
Hearing update preference — whether you'd like to be informed about upcoming meetings

We do not collect payment information, government IDs, or any sensitive personal data. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Basic analytics (page views) may be collected by our hosting provider, Netlify, per their own privacy policy.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely for the following purposes:

To record your name as a petition signatory for presentation to West Palm Beach city commissioners and the planning board
To send you updates about upcoming hearings and votes, if you opted in
To display an anonymized signature count on the site

We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or unrelated third parties.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Petition submissions are stored securely by Netlify, our hosting provider. Netlify is a U.S.-based company that stores data on servers located in the United States. Their data handling practices are governed by their own Privacy Policy.

Who Can Access Your Data

Only the site administrators (the Protect the Palm organizing team) have access to petition submissions. We access this data solely to compile the petition record and send hearing notifications to opted-in signatories.

How Long We Keep Your Data

We will retain petition data through the conclusion of the West Palm Beach Downtown Master Plan approval process, including any appeals. After that time, we will delete personal information from our records. If you would like your information removed sooner, see the section below.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the information we hold about you
Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information
Deletion — ask us to remove your name from the petition and delete your data
Opt out — unsubscribe from hearing notifications at any time

Children's Privacy

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through this site, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
